Fooyin University was established in 1958 to promote and maintain health in Taiwan and this mission remains its highest priority today. At Fooyin health is considered a holistic ideal embracing every aspect of a person's physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Thus, at Fooyin, in addition to promoting competence and quality in healthcare, traditional liberal arts and professional education are integrated in such a way as to bring a deep concern for not only the body but also the whole person.

Fooyin University Hospital provides Fooyin students of nursing, medical technology, midwifery, and physiotherapy departments with the opportunity to put clinical teaching and theory into practice and participate in improving the Hospital's quality of service and care. The current objectives of the Hospital include rendering quality service to patients, maintaining the welfare of the community, and concentrating on teaching and research in order to develop into a regional teaching hospital.

Fooyin Journal of Health Sciences is published by Elsevier for the Fooyin University.
